16-year-old girl sexually assaulted in Coimbatore - Man arrested in POCSO

A 16-year-old girl from Dindigul was sexually assaulted on the pretext of marrying her and then tried to cheat her by saying that he could not marry her. Sriram (24), a resident of Press Colony in Coimbatore, was arrested by the police under the POCSO Act and sent to prison.



Coimbatore: Police have arrested a youth for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl on the pretext of sexually harassing her in Coimbatore.

A 16-year-old girl from Dindigul district was staying in Coimbatore and working in a grocery shop. She and Sriram (24), a resident of Press Colony in Coimbatore, became acquainted.

In this situation, Sriram says that he is in love with the girl and that he wants to marry her. A few days ago, he took her to Coonoor and took her to a private hostel and sexually assaulted her. 

Later, the youth said that he would not get married when he returned to Coimbatore. The girl has lodged a complaint with the Thudiyalur all-women police station in Coimbatore in this regard.

Based on the complaint, the police registered a POCSO case and arrested Sriram and produced him in court and sent him to jail.
