A complaint has been lodged at the police station alleging that 12 sovereigns of gold ornaments were stolen from the marriage hall of Makaliamman temple in Pachapalayam this morning. In the theft complaint, Nataraj of the DMK allegedly spread slander on WhatsApp that the police had taken R K Raja and DMK member Ayyasamy of the anti-crematorium protest group for questioning.

The people of Pachapalayam area gheraoed the office of the Superintendent of Police and staged a protest demanding an inquiry and action against the above mentioned persons.

Angered by the delay in receiving the complaint, the public suddenly blocked the Trichy-Coimbatore national highway. Due to this, traffic was disrupted in the area.

Inspector Manikandan held talks with the public who continued to raise slogans and assured them that action would be taken.
