CMRL recommends regular Metro Train system instead of metro lite as recommended earlier for Coimbatore

Chennai Metro Rail Corporation (CMRL) has announced that "After review, considering the importance and future growth of the Combatore city, the Government of TamilNadu has recently suggested to implement the Metro Rail Project instead of Metro Lite as suggested earlier in Coimbatore city. Accordingly, the Detailed Project Report (DR) is being modified and the same will be submitted to Government shortly."


Coimbatore: The Central Government is implementing the Metro Rail Service Project keeping in view the development of major cities in the country.

For the first time in Tamil Nadu, a Metro rail project was introduced in Chennai.

The metro rail service project along with regular transport services has received a good response from the public as it relieves congestion and saves time.

Accordingly, it was announced that the Metro Lite Project in Coimbatore will be implemented.

Considering the development and importance of the industrial city of Coimbatore city, it has been decided to implement the regular metro rail project instead of the metro lite project.

An official notification in this regard has been issued by the Chennai Metro Rail Corporation.

The detailed project report in this regard has been revised and will be submitted to the Tamil Nadu government shortly.
