Venkatachalam (67), a resident of Daniel Nagar near Thottipalayam division near Coimbatore, was unable to walk in the accident. He was injured in a fire that broke out in his bed while lighting the beedi and succumbed to his injuries.

Venkatachalam (67) hails from Daniel Nagar in Coimbatore's Thottipalayam division. He was a labourer who was severely injured in an accident two years ago. As a result, he was bedridden and unable to walk.

On the day of the incident, Venkatachalam used a matchbox to light the beedi and lit the fire. It is said that the fire fell on the bed and caught fire. In this case, the fire has spread in the blink of an eye.
Venkatachalam, who was sleeping, was also affected by the fire. He yelled because he couldn't endure the anguish any longer. Hearing this, Venkatachalam's neighbours rushed to his aid. He was later shifted to the Government Hospital in Coimbatore for treatment.
Doctors treated him and admitted him to the intensive care unit.
However, Venkatachalam died tragically as the treatment did not work. Thudiyalur police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
