Public accuses PWD officials Negligence in draining of Jallipatti Pond and PAP canal in Udumalpet

The public has accused PWD officials of being neglectful despite being informed that the pond's banks and the PAP canal at Jallipatti, near Udumalpet, had been illegally drained and fish had been caught.

Tirupur: The public have demanded action against those who illegally breached the bank of a pond at Jallipatti near Udumalpet.

A pond is spread over an area of 20 acres at Jallipatti near Udumalpet in Tirupur district. The pond was full due to the monsoon rains last year.

2 days ago, by breaking the bank of the pond and breaking the concrete bank of the PAP, Udumalpet canal, a large quantity of water from the pond has been illegally drained out and fished in.

On receiving information about this, the farmers reached there and sealed the breach. They also informed the panchayat administration, union administration and public works department officials about the same. It is said that the department officials have not lodged a complaint with the police against those who broke the pond and the PAP canal.

Farmers expressed their dissatisfaction as the authorities did not take care of strengthening the banks of the pond, PAP canal, pit dug to the canal and PAP, Udumalai canal embankment and lower level bridge.

Hence, the farmers have demanded that the Public works department officials should take appropriate action against those who broke the bank of the canal without showing any negligence.
