Temple devotees urge Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments dept. officials to take action on Trustee for embezzlement of temple funds near Dharapuram

Alleging that a person claiming to be a hereditary trustee of the temple has illegally put up a name board and maintained a separate hundi to collect money from devotees and thereby embezzlement of lakhs of rupees.


Tirupur: Alleging that temple properties of Kongur Ukkira Kaliamman temple near Dharapuram are being misused, devotees complained to the officials of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments demanding action on the hereditary trustee.

Ukkira Kaliamman Temple is located at Kongur near Dharapuram in Tirupur district. This temple is 1000 years old. More than 100 worshippers of the temple came to Dharapuram yesterday and lodged a complaint with the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department officials.

Alleging that a person claiming to be a hereditary trustee of the temple has illegally put up a name board and maintained a separate hundi to collect money from devotees and thereby embezzlement of lakhs of rupees.

“Moreover, 300 sovereigns of jewellery given by the devotees for the temple were also misused land belonging to the temple was also misused. He has also been forcing devotees to buy prasad for Rs. 500” the complainants said.

The petitioners demanded that HR& CE department take appropriate action against the person and seize temple properties which are in his custody.
