Tirupur: A three-day-old baby was abducted by unidentified persons at a government hospital in Tirupur.

The police have formed three special teams and are on the lookout for the women, who abducted the child on the pretext of helping the mother.

Arjun Kumar (26) hails from Odisha and he works in a hosiery unit. His wife Kamini, who was pregnant, was admitted to the Tirupur Government Medical College Hospital for delivery on April 22 and she gave birth to a baby boy.

A woman named Esther Rani was also admitted to the ward for treatment of a miscarriage near Kamali. She was assisted by a woman named Uma. Uma took care of Kamali's child and helped her as she was in the same ward.

Seeing this, Arjun Kumar went to work as Uma was helping her.

Meanwhile, Arjun Kumar came to the government hospital after work and asked for the baby.

However, Uma along with Queen Esther, had abducted the child and went missing by then. Uma and Esther who had taken the child on the pretext of putting it in the incubator had fled the scene with the child.

Following this, police reached the spot and conducted an investigation. They also scrutinized the footage recorded on CCTV cameras. Suspecting that the child may have been kidnapped by the women duo, the police contacted the mobile number given by them and found it switched off near Villupuram.

In the meanwhile, the police have released a photo of the woman suspect, who allegedly abducted the child and are on the lookout for her.
