A forest fire that had been raging for the past week in the Alandurai Western Ghats forest area of Coimbatore has been entirely extinguished due to continuous effforts by the forest department. Forest department officials are keeping a close watch on the area from which the smoke is coming.
A forest fire broke out in the Western Ghats forest area near Alandurai in Coimbatore on April 11.
Following this, around 300 employees from the forest ranges of Madukkarai, Coimbatore, Mettupalayam, Sirumugai, Nilgiris, Salem, and Erode worked relentlessly for the past seven days to extinguish the forest fire.

Furthermore, a large-scale fire was extinguished by pouring around 22 thousand litres of water from a military helicopter. The forest department personnel fought and put out the forest fire in the remaining areas late last night.
Following this, on the 8th day today, forest department personnel have carried out surveillance work in the areas where smoke has appeared. In the last seven days of forest fire, trees, vegetation and grasses have been burnt and damaged from several hectares of land.
