According to forest department officials, the 7th forest fire in the Western Ghats of Alandarai in Coimbatore will be extinguished by this evening. While 90percent of the fire has already been doused, additional personnel are working to do so today.
Coimbatore - On April 11th, a forest fire broke out in the Western Ghats forest area of Nathegoundanpudur in Alandarai, Coimbatore.
More than 250 forest personnel from Coimbatore, Udumalpet, Nilgiris, Erode, and Sirumugai forest ranges worked to extinguish the fire, which burned an area of roughly 150 hectares.

According to the district collector's recommendation, the fire was extinguished by an army helicopter. The aircraft used approximately 22,000 litres of water to totally extinguish the four spots where the fire broke out.

The fire entirely burned trees , plants and shrubs covering an area of 15 hectares. In this case, 90% of the fire had been extinguished by last night.

After that, additional personnel from several regions of the state, including Salem, helped put out the fire for the seventh consecutive day.
The fire will be totally extinguished and under control by evening, according to authorities with the forest department.
