15-day money disbursement: farmers urge Udumalpet Amaravathi sugar mills!

Sugarcane farmers in Udumalpet have asked the management to pay them once every 15 days for sugarcane sent to the Amaravathi Sugar Mill for crushing.

Tirupur: Farmers have demanding that cane transported to The Amaravathi Sugar Mill in Udumalpet be distributed once every 15 days.

A conference was conducted at the Amaravathi Sugar Mills Community Hall in Tirupur district, attended by officials from the Udumalai Amaravathi Cooperative Circle Mill and the sugarcane producers' organisation.

The following resolutions were approved:

1. The Tamil Nadu government ought to obtain the necessary funds for the sugar mill's renovation and proceed with the renovation.

2. Payment for sugarcane sent for crushing in the current year should be made once every 15 days.

3. The issue of sugarcane cutters and wage disparities should be addressed.

4. The Commissioner of Sugar should take the appropriate procedures to grant additional monies to the mill for the current fiscal year in order to address the cash for work shortage.

5. All necessary efforts should be taken to keep the plant functioning continuously without interruption from the start of crushing until the target is met.

6. Ensure that the sugarcane is correctly cut.

7. Steps should be taken to address the sugarcane industry's long-standing labour shortage.

8. There is no road or track infrastructure in the locations where sugarcane is registered for milling. It should be assured that roads are fixed and sugarcane is harvested without difficulty.

9. The distillery's management should take the required efforts to create a profit by functioning more efficiently than it is now.

10. Steps should be taken to increase sugarcane construction.

11. Workers' wages should be paid on time. The PF arrears should be paid immediately.

12. The payment of daily salary should be regulated. Cut-off salaries and cart rents should be paid weekly.

13. The weighing scale camera should be kept. The generator in the diesel bunk becomes soaked in the sun and rain. You'll need to put up a roof for that.

14. To address the scarcity of labour in the factory, experienced workers from other companies should be brought in for foreign employment, and the plant should be run continuously.

15. Due to the delay in registering and cutting sugarcane last year, there was no other option than to cut the sugarcane and send it outside. A byla case has been filed against people who do not supply sugarcane.

16. If the farmer in question sells sugarcane to the mill this year, the byela case filed against him should be dropped.

At this meeting, such resolutions were passed. The meeting was attended by Sugarcane Growers Association President Shanmugavelu, Amaravathi Co-operative Sugar Mills Managing Director Shanmuganathan, and representatives of farmers' unions, as well as a large number of sugarcane farmers from Udumalpet, Madathukulam, Kaniyur, Kumaralingam, Neykarapatti, Oddanchatram, and other areas.
