Farmers have thanked the Tamil Nadu government and the district administration for halting mineral resource mining in the Kinathukadavu area of Coimbatore for the past five days, as the Tamil Nadu government constituted a special special team to combat mineral thievery.
Coimbatore:Farmers in Coimbatore district have expressed gratitude to the Tamil Nadu government and the district administration for putting a stop to mineral looting in the district.
There have been reports of mineral resource stealing in Kanyakumari, Coimbatore, and other parts of Tamil Nadu. Following this, the Tamil Nadu government developed special squads to prevent mineral resource looting.
More than 10 farmers from Coimbatore have complimented the Tamil Nadu government and the Coimbatore district collector for the reduction in mining of mineral resources from quarries in the last four to five days since the formation of a special squad at Kinathukadavu in Coimbatore.
Farmers stated in a letter of gratitude to the Coimbatore district collector's office that agriculture was good since the Kinathukadavu area near Palakkad pass receives a lot of rain.
Farmers and the general people have been particularly hard struck in the last year by quarry looting of mineral resources.
Following multiple objections submitted to the Coimbatore district collector on behalf of the public and farmers, the Tamil Nadu government established special squads to combat mineral resource looting last week.
As a result, mineral resource extraction from quarries has been halted for the last four to five days. The public and farmers are relieved because there is no movement of trucks engaged in mineral robbery from quarries.
I applaud the Tamil Nadu government and the district administration for this. They insisted on the transfer being permanent rather than temporary.
