Rs 2.5 crore tar road improvement work to be started in Udumalpet - Minister M P Saminathan's participation

The inauguration ceremony of the widening of tar road at an estimated cost of Rs.2.68 crore was held at Kadathur Panchayath in Madathukulam Union of Tirupur District at an estimated cost of Rs.2.68 crore under road improvement scheme. Minister M P Saminathan participated in the function and inaugurated the work.


Tirupur: The inauguration ceremony of the widening of tar road at an estimated cost of Rs 2.68 crore under the Road Development Project in Kadathur Panchayath was held.

Minister of Information and Publicity M P Saminathan and District Rural Development Agency Project Director Lakshmanan presided over the function. DMK floor leader R. Jayaramakrishnan, Madathukulam DMK Union secretaries Eswarasamy (West) and Sakul Hameed (East) took the lead.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister M P Saminathan said, in Madathukulam Assembly Constituency, 57 works such as widening, improvement and upgradation of roads and construction of bridges have been completed by the Highways Department during the last year at a cost of Rs.42.46 crores for a length of 86.80 km.

During the current year, 19 works have been taken up by the Highways Department for a length of 24.80 km at a cost of Rs.20.97 crores and are in progress.

Construction of culvert bridge followed by widening and strengthening of Kaniyur-Kadathur road from one lane to two lane at a cost of Rs.2.58 crores at a cost of Rs.2.58 crores. Widening and rebuilding of three culverts and construction of retaining wall are currently in progress.

The remaining road work upto Kadathur will be taken up in the coming financial year and continuous road widening works will be completed, he said.

Assistant Divisional Engineer (Madathukulam Sub-Division, Dharapuram Division) Young Pooranam, Assistant Engineer Senguttuvan and other officials of the department were present on the occasion.
