Thousands of devotees from surrounding areas participated in the 71st annual Panguni Uthiram festival at Sri Subramanya Swamy Temple in Valparai. Paal kavadi, Paravi kavadi and mouth piercing were performed.
Coimbatore: The 'Panguni Uthiram' festival was celebrated at the Subramanya Swamy temple near Valparai in Coimbatore district.
The 71st annual Panguni Uthiram festival was celebrated at Sri Subramanya Swamy Temple in Valparai. On the last day of the festival, which began with the hoisting of the national flag on The 3rd, thousands of devotees were offered annadhanam at the Subramaniaswamy temple on Thursday.
On behalf of more than 10 Adivasi adivasi villagers from Nallakathu palam area, devotees carried 131 milk pots of theertham and brought it to the temple in a procession.
From children to adults, they pierced the beak and paid their obeisance.
A large number of devotees, carrying milk kavadi and Paravi kavadi from the new bus stand, took out a procession up to the Subramanya Swamy temple and offered prayers.
Thousands of devotees from the surrounding districts participated in the event.
