Palladam Farmer Outraged as Electricity Board Employees Cut Down 20 Trees

A farmer has filed a complaint with the Palladam police station, requesting action against electricity board staff who destroyed more than 20 trees from an agricultural land in Ayyampalayam, near Palladam.

Tirupur: A complaint has been filed at the police station against the electricity board employees for cutting down 20 trees in an agricultural estate near Palladam.

Velusamy is the son of Subbiyagounder, a native of Ayyampalayam near Palladam in Tirupur district. The farmer, who used to cultivate 1.75 acres of land he owns, is now barren due to the failure of the rains.

While Velusamy lives with his family in Kali Velampatti, he used to visit his garden once in 10 days.

Meanwhile, when Velusamy visited his garden today, he found that 20 trees such as neem tree, vellavelam tree and kuluvai tree had been cut down by miscreants.

In this case, farmer Velusamy addressed the officers of the Ayyampalayam electricity board office on suspicion of electrical wires passing nearby. When Velusamy questioned the officials, he was told, "It is said that Mohan, a gardener next to you, asked me to cut down the trees."

As a result, farmer Velusamy has filed a complaint with the Palladam police station, requesting that those responsible for the tree cutting be held accountable.

And what can an ordinary farmer do if the trees planted with desire are felled in this manner? If trees are planted on fallow ground because agriculture cannot be done owing to a lack of rain, strict action should be taken against individuals responsible.
