Coimbatore: Two people, Mohan Kumar and his mother Mani, both of Dasanoor in Mettupalayam, have been detained in connection with a case of defrauding people out of Rs 36 lakh under the pretence of obtaining them jobs as administrative wing officers at the Coimbatore district collectorate.

The two were presented in court and jailed.Additionally, they have created fake work orders and given them to the moneylenders. It wasn't until it was delivered to the Collector's office in Coimbatore that it was discovered that it was a bogus order. After that, it appears that the people who gave the money requested a refund but did not actually grant it.

In addition, Mohan Kumar had defrauded a large number of people out of lakhs of rupees by promising to get them employment, and with that money he had purchased vans and cars and leased them out. The Coimbatore district crime branch police received a report about the scam from Bhupathi, a resident of Goundampalayam.

She claimed in her lawsuit that after gathering money from numerous sources and giving it to Mohan Kumar, he defrauded her.

An extensive search operation was carried out on the direction of district SP Badrinarayanan and a special team headed by inspector Rajeshwari. Mohan Kumar and his mother Mani, who had fled, were taken into custody. A van that is valued Rs 20 lakh was taken. He is also being questioned about his fiancée, Shobhana.

The scam's forgeries were also discovered and confiscated. On many other people, it is rumoured that the mother and son may have orchestrated a similar fraud. The arrested mother and son were presented in court and were given jail sentences while the authorities continue their investigation.
