In this regard, 19 new schemes under the Education Sector with Smart classrooms, renovation of Anganwadis, additional school buildings, safety measures, books-on-wheels and others have been recorded. There are also four new schemes under the Revenue Division that are inclusive of tax collection through QR code and digitization of property tax verification, and seven new schemes in the Health Sector.
Initially, subtle disorder was witnessed during the commencement of the session as the Budget booklet was not distributed, but the issue was later resolved.
Soon after the budget proposal, Prabakaran, ADKM Councillor, Sharmila Chandrashekar and a few others opposed the Budget allocation stating that the current financial year's assessment was mundane and a replica of the previous financial year. "Despite having increased the taxation price, the current financial budget estimates had listed a deficit. Fulfilment of the existing schemes is not briefed. On the whole, it is dissatisfying," they noted.
A few other councillors also mentioned clarification on the planning of Semmozhi Park, establishment of Scheme roads, multi-level parking lots, expansion of employment opportunities, upgradation of elementary schools, recruitments at Primary Health Care Centres and vacant land tax receipts are void. The first session of the Budget concluded in a disarray of events. The second session is scheduled for Friday afternoon which is open for debate and discussion on the proposed budget.
