The issue of mineral looting - Seeman condemns journalist's attack

Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) coordinator Seeman has demanded the immediate arrest of the DMK workers who attacked the reporters of News Tamil tv channel who had gone to cover the mineral scam in Coimbatore.

The attack on News Tamil cameraman Balaji, who had gone to cover an illegal stone quarry near Coimbatore, has sent shock waves among journalists. Leaders of various political parties have expressed their protest in this regard.

Naam Tamilar Katchi coordinator Seeman said in a statement in this regard:

“In No.10 Muthur area of Kinathukadavu block of Coimbatore District, on the large scale smuggling of mineral resources to Kerala from illegal stone quarries, News Tamil tv journalist Arun and cinematographer Balaji, who had gone to cover the news, were threatened by the stone quarry owners belonging to the DMK. It is shocking that they have been attacked by a murderous mob by damaging the cameras.

It is highly condemnable that the ruling DMK government is watching such acts of violence by the DMK cadres in the arrogance of being in power. In the illegal stone quarries, more minerals are mined than the quantity prescribed by the Government. Farmers are also unable to do farming as the soil particles generated by the blasting of rocks are deposited in the fields.

Moreover, the roads are often damaged due to heavy load drives. The public who report it is also threatened. He demanded that the DMK cadres who attacked the reporters of News Tamil tv should be arrested and jailed immediately. I also urge you to stop the continuing attacks on journalists by the DMK.

On behalf of Naam Tamilar Katchi, I urge the DMK government to immediately stop the smuggling of mineral resources of Tamil Nadu to Kerala.”
