Special Sub-Inspector Ravichandran was arrested by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau for accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 to avoid registering a case in connection with a land dispute in Sultanpet area near Sulur.
Coimbatore: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a special assistant inspector for allegedly demanding a bribe near Sulthanpettai in Coimbatore district to avoid registering a case.
Panchalingam is the son of Subramaniam, a native of Chandamanaickenpalayam near Sulur. Jayaprakash and his mother Dhanalakshmi, both residents of the same village, had a verbal spat over the parking of a tipper truck on the evening of March 22.
After this, Panchalingam's father Subramaniam went to Dhanalakshmi's house and asked for it. At that time, Panchalingam pacified his father and brought him back.
The next day, special sub-inspector Ravichandran Panchalingam of Sulthanpet police station called him on his mobile phone and lodged a complaint with jayaprakash. He told me to come to the police station saying he wanted to investigate.
The special subinspector told them that he was made to sit inside and that he would not file an FIR against him, but would speak to them calmly and release him only with a CSR.
Later, when Panchalingam came out of the police station after talking to the villagers and saying that he was going to make peace, special sub-inspector Ravichandran called him and told him that he had only saved him by putting on the CSR instead of the FIR. He asked me to pay Rs 5,000 for it. He said that he was not feeling well and that he would come and see him in the evening and came home.
In this case, he lodged a complaint with the Coimbatore Anti-Corruption Bureau as he was harassing him for money one after the other. As per the advice given by the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Panchalingam went to meet special assistant inspector Ravichandran.
When he took Rs 4,000 as bribe to come in front of the Karupparayan temple near the police station, a police team led by the Coimbatore Anti-Corruption and Vigilance Wing police inspector, who was hiding there, caught SSI Ravichandran red-handed and arrested him.
