Five-year-old tusker found dead in Sirumugai forest range, autopsy performed

According to the Forest officials, there was no injuries on the dead elephant's body. The real cause of death would be known only after the autopsy report.


Coimbatore: A five-year-old male wild elephant was found dead in the Pethikuttai forest area near Sirumugai.

Forest officials recovered the carcass and a team of veterinary doctors conducted an autopsy to ascertain the cause of the elephant's death.

The forest department personnel were patrolling inside the Modur Pethikuttai Reserve Forest under the Sirumugai forest range when they stumbled upon the carcass.

According to the Forest officials, there were no injuries on the dead elephant's body. The real cause of death would be known only after the autopsy report.
