Female elephant found dead in Periyanaickenpalayam forest range

The female elephant was reportedly aged around 20-30 years. A team led by the Periyanaickenpalayam Forest Range Officer inspected the forest area.


Coimbatore: Forest personnel who were on regular patrolling duty inside the reserve forest in the Neelampati range of Tholampalayam Pirivu of Periyanaickenpalayam forest range in Coimbatore district found a dead female elephant dead inside the forest range.

The female elephant was reportedly aged approximately around 20-30 years. A team led by the Periyanaickenpalayam Forest Range Officer inspected the forest area.

A medical team led by the Forest Veterinary Officer is presently conducting a post-mortem of the elephant in the presence of the Coimbatore District Forest Officer, Assistant Conservator of Forests, NGOs, Village Forest Committee Chief and forest staff.
