Nilgiris Collector unfurls national flag at the Republic day celebrations, Rs.2.40 crore welfare assistance distributed

District Collector Amrith, who accepted the guard of honour the Republic Day function in Ooty distributed welfare schemes to the tune of Rs 2,40,32,399 to 59 beneficiaries.



The Nilgiris: The 74th Republic Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at the Government arts college premises in Ooty.



District Collector Amrith unfurls the national flag at 10 am. District Superintendent of Police K Prabhakar welcomed the collector.



Subsequently, the District Collector accepted the guard of honour by Police, Home Guards and Fire Department personnel.



Then, the District Collector distributed commendation certificates and medals to 123 officials belonging to various departments.



District Collector Amrith also distributed welfare assistance worth Rs 2,40,32,399 to 59 beneficiaries through various departments.



The ceremony was followed by traditional dance performances by the Todar tribes.

A large number of people watched the ceremony.
