City Corporation wins award from TN Governor for exceeding target for Flag Day Collections at 43.22 lakhs

The Coimbatore Corporation, which collected 181 per cent more than the target set for flag day collections, will be presented with the award to be held at the Raj Bhavan today.


Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi will present the award to the Coimbatore Municipal Corporation at a function today for exceeding the target flag day collections.

Flag Day is observed on December 7 every year to protect the interests of the tri-services personnel. Funds are collected from the public and government officials for the welfare of the soldiers.



Awards are being given to the best district administration and Municipal corporation administration on Republic Day at the Raj Bhavan for achieving new targets towards Flag Day collections.

Among corporations, the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has topped the list with the highest amount of money collected by any Corporation, while the Coimbatore Corporation has topped the list for exceeding the target collection.

While Rs 15.40 lakh has been set as target for Coimbatore corporation it exceeded the target and collected a whopping Rs. 43, 22, 820 towards flag day collections.

It amounted to 181% more than the set target. Hence, the Coimbatore Corporation administration is given the award for its achievement.

Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Prathap will receive the award from Governor R N Ravi at a function to be held at the Raj Bhavan in Chennai today.
