Collector unfurls National flag on the 74th Republic Day celebrations at VOC grounds, medals and certificates given to officials for meritorious service

The 74th Republic Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at the VOC grounds in the city. Cultural programmes of school students and medals and certificates were presented to the officers for meritorious service.



Coimbatore: District Collector GS Sameeran hoisted the national flag at the Republic Day function held at the VOC grounds in the city. The Collector accepted the guard of honour given by the police on the occasion.



Collector Sameeran later presented medals and certificates to those who have done exemplary work in various government departments, including the police department.



Accordingly, the Chief Minister's Police Medal was awarded to 69 city police personnel and 43 district police personnel.

In addition, 61 city police personnel and 66 district police personnel were awarded certificates for meritorious service.



Also, 136 government officials were awarded commendation certificates of meritorious service.



This was followed by cultural programmes by the school and college students.



Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Badri Narayanan, City Police Commissioner K. Balakrishnan, West Zone Inspector General of Police Sudhakar, District Revenue Officer and government officials took part in the celebration.

In the meanwhile, respective Tahsildars in the taluks garlanded the statues of freedom fighters in their jurisdiction.

A large number of patriots and the general public participated in the celebrations.
