Tragedy: Boy dies after consuming pesticide thinking it as a soft drink in Coimbatore

In a tragic incident, a five-year-old boy in Coimbatore died after consuming pesticide at home thinking it was a soft drink.


Coimbatore: Prakash (32) is a resident of Thilakar Street in Seeranaickenpalayam, Coimbatore. He was married and had a five-year-old son, Darshid. Prakash works in the marketing department of a private pharmacy firm.

In this case, it is said that Darshith suddenly developed abdominal pain on the 20th.

When Prakash asked the boy about this, he showed him a bottle of soft drink in the house and drank it.

When Prakash checked it, it was revealed that the bottle contained pesticide to keep away the cockroaches.

Shocked by this, Prakash rushed the boy to Coimbatore Government hospital in a 108 ambulance.

Dharshit, who was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) and was undergoing treatment, succumbed to his internal injuries. R S Puram police have registered a case in connection with the incident and are investigating.
