Daughter arrives in ambulance with her mother to lodge complaint at Coimbatore collector's office

The mother, who had been unconscious for seven months at a private hospital in Coimbatore, was allegedly discharged, triggering panic among the daughter who had come to submit a petition to the collector in an ambulance.

Coimbatore: Having allegedly spent up to Rs 20 lakh in a private hospital for seven months due to brain haemorrhage, it is alleged that the hospital authorities had forcibly evacuated her ailing mother, triggering a furore by her daughter who had come to submit a petition to the collector, taking her mother in an ambulance.

According to the complaint lodged by her daughter, her mother Thilakavathi and father Jayachandran, who were living in Mahalakshmi Nagar near Palladam in Tiruppur district, suddenly fainted while she was at home on July 5. She had lost consciousness.

She was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital from where she was rushed to govt hospital. She was referred to coimbatore government hospital for further treatment.

As she did not get the treatment she wanted, she moved to getting admitted in a private hospital in Othakkalmandapam area of Coimbatore for treatment.

There she was operated upon to repair a hemorrage in her brain. Surgery was also performed on the throat and lungs.

She alleged, “At the same hospital, after spending Rs 20 lakh for seven months in a row, my mother, who was undergoing treatment unconsciously, was threatened by the hospital authorities and sent out.

Therefore, action should be taken against the hospital authorities who forcibly removed my mother who was undergoing treatment”, said Thilakavathi's daughter.

While she had come to lodge a complaint with the Coimbatore collector along with her mother in an ambulance, the police there interrogated them as the collector was not present yesterday.

Later, they said they would take her mother to a hospital in Puducherry and from there left in an ambulance.

Due to the incident, there was a tense situation in the Coimbatore collectorate for some time.
