Speaking on the occasion, Police Commissioner K Balakrishnan said that the families affected by social crimes in Coimbatore city are being provided material and educational assistance on behalf of the Kavasam Foundation keeping in view their future well-being.

He also added that In 2022, about 75 cases of POCSO and sexual abuse and 797 cases of suicide were reported in the city.

“These criminal incidents also lead to mental health issues and thereby increasing the number of suicides’ the commissioner noted

“About 269 accident cases and 25 to 30 cases of murder have also been registered. The crime rate should be brought down in the city for which the city people should work together” the Commissioner noted.

“Steps will be taken to give psychological counselling to the affected persons if there is a need,” the Commissioner said
