Two youth arrested for selling ganja near Vellakinar railway gate in Coimbatore

A police team led by the Thudiyalur Sub-Inspector Guru Chandra Vadivel arrested two youth who had ganja packets for sale in Mullukadu area near Vellakinar railway gate in Coimbatore.



Coimbatore: The police have been taking strict action against gangs that sell ganja and tablets in Coimbatore district. In particular, the Special Forces Police have intensified patrolling in areas where colleges are located. Ganja dealers are being arrested on the basis of confidential information provided by the public.

Accordingly, based on a tip-off, Sub-Inspector Guru Chandravadivel along with police personnel cornered drug peddlers selling ganja in the Thudiyalur area of Coimbatore on Friday. The team had rushed to the Mullukadu area near Vellakinar railway gate and nabbed two persons who were standing suspiciously and interrogated them.

During investigation, it was revealed that they had ganja in possession for sale. The two peddlers have been identified as Subhash (21) and Joseph Daniel (21), both residents of K K Pudur.

The police have arrested the two men and seized 1.100 kg ganja from them. Later, the two were remanded to judicial custody and sent to jail.
