Goondas Act slapped on realtor couple, who duped investors to the tune of many lakhs

City police invoked the provisions of the Goondas Act on a couple, who were running a real estate company in the Meena estate area. The couple had duped investors and collected lakhs of rupees on the pretext of buying a plot and constructing a house.


Coimbatore: Jagannath Singh (41), a resident of Meena Estate in Ramanathapuram, and his wife Kalaivani (38) were running a real estate company “Cube Square Construction” and collected money from investors on the pretext of constructing houses.

According to Police, the couple duped several investors in the Peelamedu area and duped them of several lakhs of rupees on the pretext of buying land and constructing a house.

Based on complaints, Ramanathapuram police registered a case and conducted an investigation before arresting Jagannath Singh and Kalaivani.

As the police found out that the couple had cheated many investors after getting Rs.20 lakh in advance, they decided to slap Goondas Act on the couple.

Meanwhile, on the orders of Police Commissioner Balakrishnan both Jagannath Singh and Kalaivani were arrested under the Goondas Act, and sent to jail.
