General Body meeting of SPCA chaired by Dist. Collector in Coimbatore

The meeting involved discussion on seizing cattle roaming on the streets which was obstructing public and traffic, imposition of fines on straying cattle owners and confiscation of cattle if they continued to stray onto roads.


Coimbatore: The general body meeting of the Coimbatore District Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) was held under the chairmanship of the District Collector G S Sameeran at the Collectorate auditorium, in Coimbatore.



At the general body meeting, various measures to tackle cattle menace on roads were discussed, which included seizing cattle roaming on the streets and obstructing public and traffic in Coimbatore, imposition of fines on its owners and confiscation of cattle in case such cattle continued to stray.



A resolution was also passed regarding the allocation of funds from the Vallalar Biodiversity Reserve Fund Allocation to improve infrastructure and to undertake various constructive works. Further, it was decided in the meeting of the committee to discuss and implement the welfare activities for cattle.



Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Prathap, Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation General Manager Deepak Jacob, Animal Husbandry Department Regional Joint Director Perumalsamy, Conservator of Forests Kosala and office bearers, NGO activists, animal lovers and members participated in the meeting.
