POCSO court convicts man to five years imprisonment for sexually assaulting minor girl

A POCSO court has sentenced Manoj to five years imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on him for abducting and sexually assaulting a class 10 student near Goundampalayam.


Coimbatore: Manoj hails from Goundampalayam in Coimbatore district. He became acquainted with a class 10 student when he commuted to work by bus.

Since then, the two have met frequently in private. In the meantime, Manoj was said to have been addicted to cannabis and he also taught the girl the habit of smoking ganja.

When Manoj had kidnapped he girl, the girl’s parents lodged a complaint with the Coimbatore Central All Women Police Station.

Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and a thorough investigation revealed that Manoj had kidnapped the girl and sexually assaulted the girl by making her smoke ganja.

Judge Kulasekaran of POCSO court sentenced Manoj to five years imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on him.
