Homemade Chocolate Festival begins in Ooty; More than 180 chocolate varieties attract tourists

A total of 187 varieties of chocolates, including Rose Marie, Thyme Chocolate, Pepper Honey Chocolate are featured in the exhibition which is being held at the YWCA stadium in Ooty for ten days as part of the Christmas and New Year holidays.



The Nilgiris: The Homemade Chocolate Festival in Ooty kick-started the Christmas and New Year celebrations in Nilgiris district. The food habits and culture of the British, especially the love for homemade chocolates introduced by the British is still in vogue.



The Ooty Homemade Chocolates are the most widely sought-after and purchased shopping item for tourists visiting the Nilgiris district.



Building on the demand for chocolates, a mega chocolate festival titled 'Ooty 200' is being held at YWCA in Ooty to kick-start Christmas and New Year celebrations.



In order to attract tourists and locals to the exhibition organized by a private chocolate company, varieties of Green Tea, Chocolate Tea, Masala Tea, along with herbal ingredients such as Rosemary and Thyme Chocolate.



The exhibition features 187 varieties of chocolates, including dark chocolate, ginger chocolate, pepper honey chocolate which can also be eaten by diabetics.

The highlight of the exhibition was that 187 varieties of chocolates weighing 200 kg were featured to commemorate 200 years of Ooty being formed.



While India Book of records and The Asian Book of Records officials conducted an inspection of the exhibition in person, it was confirmed during the inspection that 180 varieties of dark chocolates were exhibited in the country in Ooty.



The certificate and awards for the same were presented by Vivek, CEO of The Asian Book of Records to the experts from the private chocolate company that organized the exhibition.
