Three get life imprisonment for murder by Nilgiris District Sessions Court

The Nilgiris district sessions court has sentenced three persons, including siblings to life imprisonment for fatally assaulting a worker in a fit of rage for making derogatory remarks against their mother.


Coimbatore: The Nilgiris district sessions court has sentenced three persons, including siblings to life imprisonment for fatally assaulting a worker in a fit of rage for making derogatory remarks against their mother.

Mahendran (43), a native of from Omnagar near Kotagiri in the Nilgiris district and he had previous enmity with Bhuvaneshwaran (28) and Sathish (24) of the same locality.

In 2018, when Mahendran had gone to S. Kaikatti, Bhuvaneswaran, Sathish and their friend Bradley alias Nagaraj (30) had picked up a quarrel.

It is learnt that Mahendran had spoken ill of Sathish and Bhuvaneswaran's mother during the quarrel. Enraged over this, the three youth attacked Mahendran with an iron rod due to which Mahendran succumbed to his injuries on the spot.



The Kotagiri police, who registered a case arrested Bhuvaneswaran, Sathish and Nagaraj. The trial was conducted in the Nilgiris district sessions court.

District judge Murugan who delivered the verdict today, sentenced the three accused persons Satish, Bhuvaneswaran and Nagaraj to life imprisonment.



A fine of Rs 10,000 was also imposed on them. The judge ordered them to one more year in jail if they fail to pay the fine. The three were later taken to Coimbatore central jail and incarcerated there.
