Two die as car knocks down two-wheeler near Karumathampatti

Vignesh (23), who was thrown out of the bike near Karumathampatti, died on the spot while Somasundaram (22) died on the way to the hospital.


Coimbatore: K.Somasundaram (22) and M. Vignesh (23), both residents of Mopiripalayam in Coimbatore, had been fatally knocked down by a speeding car near Kaniyur highway flyover when they went on a two-wheeler last night.

A speeding car which lost control and rammed from behind into the two-wheeler driven by the youngsters in which both were critically injured.

While Vignesh died on the spot, passersby rescued Somasundaram, who was admitted to the Coimbatore government hospital in a 108 ambulance. However, Somasundaram also died on the way to the hospital.

Karumathampatti police have registered a case in connection with the accident and are interrogating a youth named Gautham, who drove the car.
