NCC woman cadet from Government College, Ooty, para jumps to glory

Kokilavani, a student of The Government Arts College, Ooty, who represented Tamil Nadu in the NCC parachute jumbping camp. She has been felicitated by students and teachers alike.



Nilgiris: Kokilavani, a NCC cadet is a native of Salem district, studing in the third year of Bachelor's degree in Tourism at the Government College,Oooty in Nilgiris district.

She is an active member of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and has participated in various NCC training programmes.

In the meanwhile she has been selected to represent Tamil Nadu and participated in the NCC para-camp which was held in Delhi recently.



Kokilavani was the only Tamil Nadu cadet to be selected for the camp and she had travelled in a special aircraft of the Indian Air Force and para jumped with a parachute from a height of 2 km .

National Cadet Corps (NCC) officials said that for the first time in the history of the Government Arts College, Ooty, a student has participated in a para-camp, a prestigious camp for NCC cadets.

More over, she happens to be the only woman cadet to be selected from Tamil Nadu..

After Kokilavani had passed the physical examination test and given a rigorous training, she was selected for para-camp

"Colonel Srinivas has inspried her to acheive this rare feat, which calls for great stamina and rigorous training" NCC offiicials said.
