District collector G.S. Sameeran flagged off the World AIDS day awareness rally and signature campaign organised by Tamil Nadu AIDS Control Society (TANSACS). Hundreds of college and school students took part in the rally.
Coimbatore: With the aim to speed up the eradication of AIDS, a scourge affecting mankind, the slogan “Equalize" is adopted for the year and it is a prompt for each one of us to work for the proven practical actions,which are needed to address inequalities and help eradicate AIDS, from the surface of the planet.
World Health Organization (WHO) has earmarked AIDS awareness day on December 1, and it is being observed since 1988 to facilitate the exchange of information among national and local governments and international organizations
With the theme as "Equalise", Collector GS Sameeran launched various awareness programs including an awareness rally which commenced at the Office of the Deputy Director for health, Race Course, Coimbatore.
Hundreds of school and college students took part in the rally holding places to create mass awareness among public on AIDS.
The Collector also launched a signature campaign highlighting the AIDS awareness day theme 'Equalise' for the year 2022.
Coimbatore Government hospital Dean, Dr Nirmala and various officials from the healthdepartment took part in the awareness programs.
