Head Constable buries abandoned body of deceased in Coimbatore on humanitarian grounds

After being told that no relative came forward to claim his body for burial, Krishnan, the Head Constable in the Thadagam police station decided to perform Latif's last rites and buried him with due last respects. The humanitarian gesture of the Head Constable was lauded by both public and officials in the area.


Coimbatore: Latif, a construction worker from Kanuvai area of Coimbatore who was separated from his first wife had married another woman from the same area. Their daughter recently got married and went to her husband's home. Meanwhile, just a few years ago, Latif's second wife died due to ill health.

Latif, who was livng alone became addicted to alcohol. Due to being irreglar at work, he ended up becoming a vagabond wandering aimlessly in many areas and slept at the temple complex and bus stand in Pannimadai, begging for help from the general public. He reportedly ate food given in the temple during the day. On Monday, Latif was found dead lying under a shade umbrella at the Pannimadai bus stop.



The Thadagam police who went to the spot took Latif's body and contacted his daughter to inform her about her father's demise.
