Dravida Manavar Kazhagam activists protest in Coimbatore against UGC's decision to hold seminar on Law Day

Led by the Dravida Manavar Kazhagam State Deputy Secretary Rahulan, more than 20 people participated in the protest and raised slogans against the UGC. There was a tense atmosphere at the South Tahsildar's office for some time due to the protest.


Coimbatore: The University Grants Commission (UGC) of the Central Government has organised a seminar in educational institutions across the country on Law Day.

It has been decided to hold the seminar to cover two topics - ‘The Merits of Monarchy’ and ‘Democratic Thoughts.’ The seminar will be based on the thoughts found in the Vedas, Manusmriti, Arthashastra, Ithikasam and Puranas.

Various Dravidian parties and organisations have slammed the UGC for scheduling the seminar on Law Day. Following this, a protest was held in front of the Coimbatore South Tahsildar's office on behalf of the Dravida Manavar Kazhagathinar.
