The Social Welfare Department and the students of private colleges jointly took out the rally at the Coimbatore Collectorate. More than 100 college girls participated in the rally, carrying banners with slogans against atrocities committed against women.
Coimbatore: Every year, on November 25, the International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women is observed. Accordingly, awareness programmes are being conducted at many places this year too.

The Social Welfare Department and the students of private colleges jointly took out a rally at the Collectorate in Coimbatore to create awareness of the need to eradicate violence and discrimination against women. The rally was flagged off by the District Collector G S Sameeran.

More than 100 college girls participated in the rally, carrying banners with slogans against atrocities committed against women.

The banners also had slogans to create awareness among women and phone numbers that women could contact in the event of any kind of criminal activities are committed against women and children.

The rally which started at the Coimbatore District Collectorate culminated in the Government Hospital area.
