Vallalar Mupperum Festival: Literary competitions held in Vallalar for students

On the occasion of Vallalar Mupperum Festival, various literary competitions including elocution, essay, poetry and other literary events were held for school and college students in Coimbatore. The prizes to be distributed on December 4.


Coimbatore: The birth anniversary of Vallalar, the 156th anniversary of the founding of Vallalar Dharamshala and the 152nd anniversary of Vallalar Jyothi Darshan are being celebrated as a grand festival. The 'Vallalar 200' festival has been underway in Tamil Nadu over a period of 52 weeks since October 5.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M K Stalin had announced that Vallalar's birth anniversary would be celebrated across the State on behalf of the State Government. Based on this announcement, Vallalar's birth anniversary is being celebrated in various districts of Tamil Nadu on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu.



The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department is conducting various literary and cultural competitions for school and college students in particular.

As part of this, the Vallalar Mupperum Festival is being held at the Ayyappan Temple mandapam in Puthu Siddhapudur area of Coimbatore. Various literary competitions such as painting, essay, elocution competition, song competitions, etc. are being conducted for students of various schools and colleges in Coimbatore district. These competitions are being conducted on topics related to Vallalar and his life.

More than 500 school and college students participated in the event. Prizes will be distributed on behalf of the State Government to the winners on December 4.
