National Voluntary Blood Donation Day: Coimbatore Collector felicitates 53 organisations for conducting blood donation camps

On the occasion of the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day, Coimbatore District Collector G S Sameeran felicitated 53 organisations for conducting blood donation camps in Coimbatore during the financial year 2021-22. He presented certificates and shields to 53 organisations.



Coimbatore: In Coimbatore district, there are 53 blood donation camp organizations, including Thalapathy Blood Donation Iyakkam, Navy INS Agrani, 110 Infantalion, L&T, Rotary Club, Lions Club and Volunteers' Organisations.

During the year 2021-22, 14,724 units of blood have been collected through four Government Blood Banks functioning at Government Medical College Hospital, ESI Medical College Hospital, Pollachi Government Headquarters Hospital and Mettupalayam Government Hospital in Coimbatore district.

Out of this, 114 blood donation camps were conducted through 53 organisations and 5,901 units of blood were collected. On the occasion of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day, a function was held at the Collectorate auditorium in Coimbatore on Monday to felicitate the organizations that conducted the blood donation camps.

On this occasion, during the financial year 2021-2022, certificates of appreciation and shields were presented to all the 53 organisations that conducted blood donation camps on behalf of the District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit and the District Blood Transfusion Authority.



Coimbatore District Collector Sameeran participated in the event and felicitated the organizations that conducted 53 blood donation camps by presenting them with certificates of appreciation and shields.



Medical College Hospital Dean Dr. Nirmala, Joint Director (Medical and Rural Services) Dr. Chandra, AIDS Control Officer/Deputy Director of Health Services Dr. Aruna, District Blood Transfusion Officer Dr. Mangaiyarkarasi, District Project Manager Gopalakrishnan and others were present on the occasion.
