Mangaluru Special Squad rushes to Coimbatore after investigation of cooker blast in Mangaluru leads to clues in Coimbatore

A special team from Mangaluru has arrived in Coimbatore to investigate the case after it was revealed that Mohammed Shariq had been staying in three districts of Tamil Nadu, including Coimbatore.


Coimbatore: A cooker bomb exploded in an autorickshaw in Karnataka's Mangaluru city on Saturday. After the Karnataka DGP confirmed that it was an incident of a planned terror attack, the Mangaluru police formed 10 special squads led by the Commissioner of Police to intensify the investigation of the blast.

During preliminary investigations, it has been revealed that Mohammed Shariq who was involved in the bomb blast case, was staying in three districts of Tamil Nadu, including Coimbatore. Surendran, a teacher at a private school in Coimbatore from Ooty, was interrogated by the police after it came to light that he had bought a cell phone SIM for Shariq.



Meanwhile, a special team from Mangalore has arrived in Coimbatore to investigate the death of Jameesha Mubin, who was killed in a car explosion in Coimbatore.



Sharith has spent three days in Coimbatore, two days in Madurai, one day in Kanyakumari and two days in Kerala. Investigations have also revealed that he became acquainted with Surendra while he was staying at a lodge in the Gandhipuram area of Coimbatore.



The police are also investigating whom he met during his stay in the city’s Gandhipuram area. The Mangaluru Special Cell police who arrived in Ooty are planning to take Surendran, a private school teacher, to Mangaluru.



Similarly, the Coimbatore Special Cell and NIA officials who investigated the Coimbatore car cylinder blast case have also rushed to Mangaluru.
