2 private buses collide near Palladam in Tirupur district

20 people have been admitted to the hospital with minor injuries after a private bus rammed into a bus carrying employees of a private banian company near Semmipalayam.



Tirupur: A private banian company is operating near Semmipalayam next to Palladam in Tirupur district. Employees travel by bus from Palladam and Semmipalayam areas to work in the banian company.

The bus in which 20 employees were travelling to Semmipalayam from Palladam area was on the Coimbatore-Trichy National Highway when another private bus carrying more than 60 passengers from Tirupur to Coimbatore collided with the bus.



This led to the bus veering into a roadside ditch, but more than 20 workers escaped with just minor injuries.

People in the area informed the Palladam Police Station and the Fire Department, and began rescuing the people trapped in the bus. After the Police and Fire Departments arrived at the spot, those trapped in the bus were rescued and then sent by ambulance to the Palladam Government Hospital and private hospitals for treatment.

Traffic on the Coimbatore-Trichy National Highway was severely affected due to the accident.
