Supreme Court upholds 10 per cent reservation for economically weaker sections - A victory for the BJP's policy of equality for all

Social justice means providing equal justice to all. That is what the BJP government is doing and the DMK's social justice has always been against a particular community," said Vanathi Srinivasan.

Coimbatore: BJP women's wing national president Vanathi Srinivasan has said that the Supreme Court's decision to uphold 10 per cent reservation for economically weaker sections is a victory for the BJP's 'equality for all' policy.

In a statement, Vanathi Srinivasan, member of Coimbatore south assembly constituency and national president of bjp's women's wing, said in a statement: The Supreme Court has ruled that the 103rd Amendment to the Constitution of India, which provides for 10 per cent reservation for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), will go ahead.

The verdict is an antidote to the age-old injustice done to the poor on the common list.

Chief Minister M K Stalin, who has vehemently opposed the verdict, said the Supreme Court's verdict was a setback in the centuries-old struggle to win social justice. She said like-minded organisations should come together to make the voice of social justice from the soil of Tamil Nadu across the country.

The poor, who have not yet come under the ambit of reservation and are in the General List (O.C.), were unable to study in higher educational institutions and could not get government jobs. Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government had in January 2019 introduced 10 per cent reservation for the economically weaker sections to address this social injustice.

'Social justice' means providing 'equal justice' to all. That is what the BJP government is doing. But the DMK's social justice has always been against a particular community. The DMK is a party which is sowing hatred against a particular community and thereby doing politics.

Brahmins are not the only ones who have benefitted from the 10 per cent reservation for economically weaker sections, as the DMK is carrying out such a campaign. In Tamil Nadu, not only Brahmins, but more than 60 communities, including Velalar, Mudaliar, Chettiar, Reddiyar and Naidu, fall under this 10 per cent reservation.

The DMK is ready to sacrifice these communities for their political gains. Parties, including the DMK, have repeatedly claimed that the 20 per cent reservation for economically weaker sections is a reservation for the upper caste poor. Nowhere in the law is there any mention of upper caste as poor.

The law does not call communities that do not fall within the ambit of reservation as upper castes and places them in the common list (OC). There is no upper caste or low caste. It is highly condemnable to repeat something that is not in the law.

The BJP government at the Centre is committed to ensuring equal justice for all. That is why it has ensured reservation for scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, other backward classes and economically weaker sections.

The BJP government at the Centre has solved many of the problems in the reservation for other backward classes. The percentage of reservation for Scheduled Castes has been increased in the BJP-ruled State of Karnataka. The BJP government's policy is that 'everyone should get everything'.

Chief Minister M K Stalin has appealed to all to come together against the 10 per cent reservation. When the 10 per cent reservation bill came up for discussion in both houses of Parliament, It was supported by the DMK's allies, the Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

The Congress has also welcomed the Supreme Court verdict. If that is the case, it is not known whether Chief Minister Stalin is going to say that parties including the Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) are working against social justice.

The DMK government should stand by the poor who have been suffering for ages without spreading misinformation about the 10 per cent reservation.
