Mini TIDEL Park in Nilgiris: Will increase employment and companies are likely to invest up to Rs 100 crore - Minister Thangam Thennarasu

IT companies have expressed their willingness to move towards Tamil Nadu. There is currently no space in TIDEL Park in Coimbatore. These companies will come to the Nilgiris if the TIDEL Park is located in the Nilgiris - Minister Thangam Thennarasu

The Nilgiris: In the last budget session, the Chief Minister had announced that a mini TIDEL park would be set up in the Nilgiris district following a demand by the TIDCO.

Minister Thangam Thennarasu told reporters, “In order to increase employment opportunities for the educated youth, such a technology park is required as an industrial activity in the Nilgiris and we have undertaken a study to select a suitable site for construction at the earliest.

In Ooty, we visited HPF, municipal land, and animal husbandry department lands. There is 90 acres of land in the HPF area. Out of this, 5 acres will be acquired from there. Action will be taken to transfer the land to TIDCO after obtaining permission from the forest department.

The Nilgiris has a master plan that requires exclusive design. Accordingly, TIDEL park constructions will be set up. The Tidel Park will provide employment to 1,000 people in the Nilgiris district and companies are likely to invest another Rs 100 crore.

IT companies have expressed their willingness to move towards Tamil Nadu. There is currently no space in Tidel Park in Coimbatore. These companies will come to the Nilgiris if the Tidel Park is located in the Nilgiris. Thus, employment will increase. Tamil Nadu is a leader in the IT sector. Even Microsoft is ready to come to Tamil Nadu.

Steps are being taken to set up a Tidel Park in the Nilgiris district as industry should be given priority. There was stagnation in the industry after GST. The industry suffered a setback due to Corona. Even during the Corona period, the share of domestic production in Tamil Nadu remained 9% which is much more than that of other states.

The business was not given the opportunity to come to a standstill. Through the Investors' Summit, we have attracted an investment of Rs 2.5 lakh crore in Tamil Nadu. Through Entrepreneurship 4.0, we focus on job creation and skilled companies that use technology.

There are a large number of technology companies in Tamil Nadu. The capacity of engineers, polytechnic students is very large. The industry, higher education department and MSME are working together to harness their potential," he said.
