'During the previous AIADMK regime, money was allocated only for decorative purposes without meeting the basic needs of Coimbatore:' Min. Senthil Balaji

The Minister highlighted at the DMK working committee meeting held in Coimbatore that the TN Chief Minister had ordered the speedy completion of pending construction of bridges in Coimbatore. He added that 85 percent of the airport expansion work has been completed while the remaining works are expected to be completed in 2-3 months.



Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M K Stalin is scheduled to visit Coimbatore on Thursday, November 10 to participate in various programs held in Tirupur, Erode, Karur and other districts.

Meanwhile, the DMK working committee meeting was held at a private hotel on Avinashi Road in Coimbatore under the chairmanship of the Electricity Minister, Senthil Balaji. The Minister who arrived to oversee party-related security arrangements ahead of the Chief Minister's visit, was accorded a warm welcome at the Coimbatore airport. At the DMK working committee meeting, plans to build the DMK office in Coimbatore district and other party activities were discussed.

Also, resolutions were passed at the meeting to thank the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for passing a resolution in the Legislative Assembly opposing the imposition of Hindi through the official language, and for providing 1,50,000 lectricity connections in one and a half years.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister will also inaugurate 50,000 new agricultural electricity connections in Aravakurichi, Karur district on November 11.



The Minister of Electricity, Senthil Balaji also highlighted the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's arrival at Coimbatore Airport at 10 am on Thursday and discussed on according him a warm welcome. In response to the query on AIADMK leader Tamil Magan Hussain's allegation that no project was implemented during the DMK regime in Coimbatore, Senthil Balaji emphasised that road construction work costing Rs.211 crore is underway.

"These roads were built during the previous AIADMK regime and then the roads were dug for sewerage works and have not been repaired for many years. There was no allocation of funds. During the AIADMK rule, funds seem to have been spent oon decoration work but not allocated for basic facilities in the city. The Chief Minister has allocated Rs. 200 crore to fulfill the basic needs of the people. Currently, works worth Rs. 26 crore are underway. The rest of the work will start by March. Similarly, the road maintenance works will soon start in the municipal areas," detailed Minister Senthil Balaji.



"85 percent of the airport expansion work which has been a long-standing demand of the people of Coimbatore and the industry has been completed. The rest of the work will be completed in 2-3 months. After seeing what work is being done, unnecessary comments should not be passed. The Chief Minister has ordered the speedy completion of pending bridges in Coimbatore. Steps have been taken to complete the Avinashi Road bridge construction work quickly," highlighted the Minister.

He added, "A new place has been selected and purchased on Avinashi Road to build the DMK office in Coimbatore. Its design is getting ready. The work will start soon. Also, in today's executive committee meeting, it was discussed about doing better voter-list verification work in all the polling stations in the special camp on revision of voter list on November 12, 13, 26 and 27."
