CCMC Commissioner inaugurates seminar on 'Addressing Climate Change Issues' in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: The Coimbatore municipal administration organised a seminar on climate change at a private star hotel in Coimbatore.



The seminar was organized as an extension of the efforts of the Coimbatore municipal administration to implement measures to protect the climate of Coimbatore city under a project called 'The Climate Smart City Assessment Framework' developed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India.

The seminar was useful in addressing the climate change issues faced by Coimbatore city. After inaugurating the seminar, the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation Commissioner, M Prathap stated that all cities in Tamil Nadu are facing climatic variations and its impact is currently affecting cities. He strssed that it was time to act to address the challenges of climate change.



Corporation Deputy Commissioner Sharmila, Tamil Nadu Urban Studies Corporation Joint Director Saraswathi, Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board Superintending Engineer Senthil Kumar, Executive Engineer Lakshmanan, Deputy Project Officer Sebastian, Nakapura Regional Management Consultant Liji, and members of technical institutes in Coimbatore, NGOs, academicians, Agricultural University faculty, employees from the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board, over 50 members from the Pollution Control Board, Forest Department, Public Works department and other departments participated in the meeting.
