Coimbatore Karupparayan temple festival being celebrated after 35 years

The Karupparaya Swamy Temple is located in the Linge Gounden Pudur area on Maruthamalai Road in Coimbatore district. After a gap of 35 years, the festival began on the 18th of last month with a fire walking ritual.

After a gap of 35 years, the festival began on The 18th of last month with a fire walking ritual. Tuesday, a theertha pot was brought from Vellingiri hills and the event was held in a grand manner.

Following this, at around 4.30 am Yesterday, Karupparaya Swamy was brought to the temple in a procession in a horse-drawn vehicle with a Mangala Sangeet ceremony from Linge Gounder Pudur Mariamman temple. The devotees then offered prayers at the temple and Annadhanam was distributed to the devotees.

This was followed by a ceremony at 4 p.m. to bring maavilakku and mulaipari from the Mariamman temple. This will be followed by karupparayaswamy thiruveedhi procession at 7 pm.

On Sunday, more than 50 goat will be cut and offered to Karupparayaswamy and annadhanam will be distributed to the public.
