Farmers' unions, irrespective of party affiliation, have demanded that the MGR vegetable market near Saibaba Temple on Mettupalayam Road should be renovated on a war footing as the entire vegetable market is getting slushy due to heavy rains.
Coimbatore: There was widespread rain in coimbatore city area last evening. Due to the rains, the areas including Gandhipuram, railway station and other areas were inundated with rain water causing inconvenience to the motorists.

Due to the rains, the entire MGR vegetable market in the Saibaba Temple area on Mettupalayam Road was covered with mud and mud. As a result, around 1,000 traders doing business there are unable to do business.

The traders have also expressed anguish that all the vegetables kept for trading are rotting and wasting as the public is unable to walk inside the market.
Meanwhile, farmers' associations, irrespective of party affiliations have demanded that the government should take steps on a war footing to repair the areas where rainwater has accumulated.
