Attempt to grab land worth Rs 20 crore near Vilankurichi in Coimbatore - victims file complaint with District SP

22 land owners have filed a complaint against Ramalingam and Rani Chellamuthu, both residents of the same locality, with the district SP alleging that they are owning the land purchased by them at Karattumedu near Vilankurichi and are threatening to kill them.

Coimbatore: As many as 22 employees of a private firm in Coimbatore purchased 1.95 acres of land in Karattumedu, Vilankurichi near Coimbatore, in 1985. In 2010, Ramalingam and Rani Chellamuthu claimed ownership of the land and made repeated threats.

Both Ramalingam and Rani Chellamuthu were arrested earlier on the basis of a civil and criminal case based on a complaint lodged by land buyers who were trying to grab the land worth around Rs 20 crore.

In this situation, the landowners have again lodged a complaint with the Office of the Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore district, alleging that they are coming with goons to claim the same place again and threaten them.

According to the complaint filed by the victims,

“A complaint was lodged with the Kovilpalayam police station regarding the attempt to grab the land and the threat, but no action was taken to comply.

Rani Chellamuthu, her son Praveen, Ramalingam and Shanthalingam, accompanied by goons, broke into the land and removed the wire fences with the JCB, threatened them with inappropriate words and threatened to kill them.

Moreover, the land purchased about 25 years ago is now being grabbed and threatened using political money power. So we have to protect our property. “
