Several areas including Gandhipuram, Ukkadam, Railway Station and R.S. Puram in Coimbatore received heavy rains this afternoon. There was a commotion as water entered the public health office of the corporation.
Coimbatore: The Chennai Meteorological Centre has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in 26 districts of Tamil Nadu, including Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode and Salem, yesterday and today due to a cyclonic circulation over the central-west and southwest Bay of Bengal.

In this situation, several areas including Gandhipuram, Ukkadam, Railway Station and R.S. Puram in Coimbatore received heavy rains. Due to this, rainwater flowed into the main roads as a river.

After just 20 minutes of rain, water entered the corporation's public health office located in Gandhipuram, Siddhapudur and VKK Menon Road, causing a lot of inconvenience to motorists. Vehicles and pedestrians are unable to move in those areas without draining out the water.

Meanwhile, before the monsoon intensifies, the corporation should take immediate action on a war footing and desilt the storm water drains. People and motorists in the area have demanded that the bad roads be repaired.
